History

Save The Storks has an interesting history.

David Pomerantz went on an evangelistic mission trip as a student at Word of Life. In New York City, he met Julie Beyel, a counselor with Expectant Mother Care. EMC was the leader in the country for the number of “saves” at abortion clinics. They were using small shuttle buses to provide sonograms to women at the door of abortion clinics in New York City.

This was an eye opening experience for Dave. He immediately invited Joe Baker, Daryl Harshbarger, and a few other friends to New York City for a training session. This trip changed their lives as they were able to assist in seeing many women choose life while they were there. Together, they brainstormed on how to bring this concept nationwide. Out of that discussion came the vision for Save The Storks.

A year later, Dave moved to Dallas for college, where he met Carolyn Cline of the Downtown Pregnancy Center. In the Lord’s providence, Save The Storks was an answer to Carolyn’s prayer. God had laid it on her heart to save 1000 babies in 2012, and she didn’t have a clue how she was going to do that until she met Dave. A Stork bus would likely save 250 to 300 babies in the Dallas area while servicing five different abortion clinics. An immediate partnership was formed and fundraising began for the Dallas Stork Bus, the first in our fleet.

Now, in 2013, Save The Storks is headquartered in Colorado Springs. Our next bus is about to enter the fleet, and we are working with pregnancy centers to get more buses lined up and in operation. The Storks story continues, thanks to the generous donations and prayers of our ministry partners.
