A few weeks ago, StorkWorks Lead Consultant, Shara, shadowed one of our affiliates, Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque. The unit was parked just across the street from a late-term abortion facility. Abortions are performed at this clinic all the way up to birth.
Sidewalk advocates outside the clinic said, “This means fully healthy babies are quite literally being left on shelves to die.”
These children are dying from starvation and hypothermia. This isn’t a stretch, considering New Mexico recently blocked a bill that would have required doctors to provide life-saving medical care to babies born alive after botched abortions.
What an important place to have a Stork Mobile Medical Unit.
Soon after the unit pulled up to the clinic, two clients arrived.
Norma, the sidewalk counselor, approached them and introduced the ladies to Shara. Shara welcomed both women, who were sisters, and invited them to board the mobile unit. One woman seemed sad and remarked that she just wasn’t sure what she should do. She mentioned she already had several children and the last pregnancy had been very hard. The women climbed on board and Shara and the Mobile Manager sat in the cab of the unit and prayed silently.
Some time passed and one of the clients said, “I see it moving,”followed by joyful sounds and laughter.
Two hours later, both women left the mobile unit giving hugs and thanks to the staff. They drove off in the opposite direction of the abortion clinic. Anxiously, Shara questioned the nursing staff about the clients’ decisions.
They quickly replied that both women had chosen life for their children and that they would be going to the CareNet center for follow up visits. The babies were 8 weeks 3 days and 9 weeks 5 days.
These cousins now have a chance at life and their mothers will receive continued support and help at CareNet!
