Despite being an organization that champions “choice,” we had a hunch that Planned Parenthood doesn’t actually care about choices for women. So we made some calls.
We’ve contacted nearly one hundred Planned Parenthood affiliates so far, asking a simple question: Do you offer ultrasound?
If they answered yes, we ask how much it costs. Each clinic had a different answer to our question, but one thing was clear. Women are being manipulated.
Here’s what we found:
- 41% of the affiliates we’ve called don’t offer ultrasound at all
- 82% either don’t offer ultrasound OR they only offer it as part of an abortion appointment or for determining the age of the baby
- Of the affiliates that offer ultrasound, 60% charge upwards of $200 and sometimes as high as $760!
One affiliate recommended we go ahead and schedule the abortion at the same time as the ultrasound to save money on their bundled package.
This information makes it hard to believe that Planned Parenthood is really all that vital for “women’s reproductive health.” It seems the only thing women would be missing out on if Planned Parenthood shut its doors is abortion.
And despite popular belief, the majority of women who have turned to abortion felt like it was their only option. According to the Medical Science Monitor, 64% of post-abortive women said they felt pressured by others to abort and 54% of post-abortive women said they were not sure about their decision to abort at the time. This is not empowerment — this is a symptom of a lack of resources and information provided to women in their time of need.
Research shows that 78% of abortion-minded women who receive an ultrasound choose life, and on our Stork Buses that number is 4 out of 5. In peering through the window of the womb, women are able to see their child for the first time, witnessing the truth of what is happening inside their bodies.
Unfortunately, many women considering abortion never get the chance to see their unborn child. This is either because the abortion clinic they visit doesn’t offer ultrasound, or they charge up to $760 for it!

An ultrasound image is one of the most powerful tools in offering women options besides abortion. This is a clear attempt by the abortion industry to hide crucial information from vulnerable women in unexpected pregnancies.
