This Incredible Response to a Simple Facebook Post Shows What Being Pro-Life is All About

This story is proof that the pro-life movement is filled with people ready to help at any given moment. Julie is a client advocate at a Care Net pregnancy center in Utica, New York.

Every day she listens to the stories of women who come into the center. The women she serves are often overwhelmed by everything life has thrown their way, and discovering they’re pregnant is the final straw. They feel like they’ve reached the end of their rope and really need the care and support people like Julie are able to provide.

I’ve been on probably half a dozen trips with Julie, and she always makes sure to forward her work phone calls to her cell so she never misses an opportunity to help women in need. Her dedication to serving women in her community inspires me so much.

A couple of days ago, Julie posted on her Facebook page about a woman in need. She has four kids and another on the way, and her family is eating on the floor from paper plates. They’d just run out of those plates.

Julie’s request on Facebook was simple:

Within minutes, her post had been shared three times, and seven people had commented offering various items for Julie to deliver to this woman. By the end of the day, 30 people had commented offering furniture, home cooked meals, dishes, silverware, and clothing for her children.

One woman had a table and chairs and end tables to give, but no way to get the furniture to her. Another woman commented offering to pick everything up in her truck and they commented back and forth coordinating the pickup and delivery.

Here’s a quick list of everything people offered to provide!

  • Money & gift cards for food
  • Plates (from multiple people)
  • Bowls (from multiple people)
  • Two couches
  • Baby clothes
  • Toddler and children’s clothes
  • Silverware
  • Coffee table
  • Serving bowls
  • Pans
  • Cooking utensils
  • Towels
  • Beds
  • Sheets
  • Blankets
  • Nightstands
  • Lamps

A church offered to store anything that couldn’t be immediately delivered to the family.

People offered to deliver other people’s goods who couldn’t transport the items themselves.

This is why we’re in pro-life work. Because people are ready to give, they want to help other people, and they want to provide for other people’s needs, they often just need a way to be connected.

They need to know that the need exists.

Julie works with a pregnancy center much like the ones we partner with. These centers are staffed by people with the biggest hearts in the world who bend over backwards and go out of their way to help people … because they genuinely care.

The people we partner with get to offer lasting solutions for people in need. They get to love and support women who are feeling pressured to abort because they feel like they have no other option. And they get to invite others in the community in to help.

Because Julie posted a simple request on Facebook, one mom and her kids now have a furnished home, with food and money for food and a place to eat dinner together. What an amazing ministry to be part of and what an amazing way to help people in your community!
