We Thought Abortion Was Our Only Option, Until We Saw a Bus That Said “HOPE”

My husband and I found out we were pregnant in December of 2013. At the time, I wasn’t authorized to work in the United States and my husband’s job barely provided for the two of us. We sought out help, but had no community to support us or the baby. We wanted to be parents, but knew it would be better to wait until we were financially stable.

We felt like we had no option but to scheduled an abortion for the following week.

When we walked toward the clinic, my husband pointed out a blue bus that said it could give us “hope” and supplies for our baby. A woman then approached me and asked if I wanted a free ultrasound and help with my pregnancy.

At first, I didn’t believe that the woman was going to give me these things without asking for anything in return. She smiled and assured me that she simply wanted to help me and my baby. My husband suggested that we see what they could do for us, so we walked across the street toward the blue bus.

With each step, my attitude towards my pregnancy and my baby began to change. I became overwhelmed with excitement thinking about seeing my baby for the first time.

I sat down on the exam bed and my husband sat right next to me, holding my hand the entire time. The nurse began the ultrasound and our little baby popped up on the screen. We could even see a little flickering heartbeat. We couldn’t take our eyes off of it!

Seeing our baby on the screen did give us hope and we are so thankful for the support and love we received on the bus.

You can help us tell more stories like Reina’s today!

Save the Storks
Save the Storks
Save the Storks exists to partner with pregnancy resource centers and give abortion-vulnerable women a choice that will change their lives forever. We partner with pregnancy resource centers all over the nation, providing them with powerful tools and training to more effectively connect with those women in their communities. With the support of people like you, we have built over 50 Stork Buses that reach women near abortion clinics, on college campuses, in rural areas and inner cities. And here’s a statistic you’ll want to share with friends and family: four out of five women who board a Stork Bus, see their baby on the ultrasound and hear the heartbeat, choose life.
