When Planned Parenthood moved into Bettendorf, Iowa, offering abortions to the community,  fervent prayer warriors fasted and prayed for three weeks in a little trailer on property directly across from the abortion clinic.

In 2002, Bettendorf welcomed its first pregnancy help medical clinic, the Women’s Choice Center. This clinic was built exactly where those women laid the foundation of prayer. For sixteen years, Planned Parenthood and Women’s Choice Center served women in vastly different ways. This pro-life ministry constantly prayed for the Lord to remove the abortion clinic and save the lives of the women and their babies who would go there.

The Staff at Women’s Choice Center continuously found new ways to reach women before they ever entered the door of Planned Parenthood. One creative way to reach more abortion vulnerable mothers was to take the ultrasounds to where the women were.

They joined forces with Save the Storks and launched their Mobile Ministry in 2016. The executive director shared, “We are constantly in awe of how God is using this center to reach women in their time of need.” Their Stork Bus serves the community five days a week and they report a 95% rate of women choosing life for their babies after seeing the ultrasound onboard the bus.

If their mobile success wasn’t exciting enough, Planned Parenthood finally closed its doors late last year!

Their story is a perfect example of how the Lord truly can transform anything. He brings life and light into the dark places and He uses His people to do it. Women’s Choice Center moved into the old abortion clinic in June of this year. It is double the size of their old building and allows them to expand their ministry. With all the new space, Women’s Choice Center is opening a faith-based, pro-family medical clinic called “Life & Family Health Center” in 2019.  It will serve the health needs of their community from infancy to geriatric.

Following the move across the street, Women’s Choice Center is now leasing their old office to a daycare for children from six weeks to six years old. LIFE and JOY are invading the quiet cul-de-sac where heartbreak once stood.

Many former PP clients still come to their pregnancy center, remembering it as Planned Parenthood but they instantly see the difference. One client said, “I’ve been here before and the presence is so different! It’s so much nicer, cleaner and you’re so kind.”

We rejoice with Women’s Choice Center for the wonderful things God is doing in Bettendorf and the surrounding community! Please join us in praying for the staff and volunteers at Women’s Choice and for those they serve daily.
