Can an abortion be stopped?

An interview with Dr. Matt Harrison, inventor of the Abortion Pill Reversal

By Victoria Robinson

Dr. Matt Harrison is a Family Practitioner in North Carolina.  In 2006, he and his colleagues pioneered a medical breakthrough known as the Abortion Pill Reversal.

Currently, women in the United States who want an abortion in the first 10 weeks of their pregnancy are given RU-486, known as the abortion pill.

The abortion pill protocol is actually not one, but two pills. The first pill is called mifepristone and it stops the pregnancy from growing. The second pill, taken within 48 hours of the first, is misoprostol and causes an early miscarriage.

Many times, women who take the first abortion pill change their mind about ending the life of their unborn child.  Before the Abortion Pill Reversal, there was nothing they could do.  Today, these women have options.

To date, more than 1,000 children have been saved from RU-486.

Recently, I spoke with him about Abortion Pill Reversal and how it is saving lives all across the country.

VR:  Tell us about yourself Dr. Harrison? Your background and education?

Dr. H:  I went to the Medical College of Virginia where I received my degree in 1998 and continued to Mobile, Alabama for residency training. I then joined Northgate Family Medicine in Concord, N.C. in 2001. Presently, I’m an Assistant Professor with Campbell Osteopathic School of Medicine and serve as Assistant Medical Director for Abortion Pill Reversal.

VR:  How did you come up with the Abortion Pill Reversal?

Dr. H:  In 2006, a young lady was referred to me who had taken the first dose of RU-486, but hadn’t ingested the second pill, which induces labor. She wanted to know if there was anything we could do to save her baby. I explained that if we gave her extra progesterone [a hormone necessary to sustain pregnancy], we might be able to outcompete the abortion pill. She took the chance and received progesterone replacement therapy through injections for several weeks. Her daughter, Kaylie, was born in 2007 and is now a healthy 12-year-old.

VR:  How does the Abortion Pill Reversal work?  What’s the success rate?

Dr. H:  We now know progesterone pills or injections work well in nullifying the effects of RU-486. Of the women who followed the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol of either the injections or pills, the success rate is 64 to 68 percent. Currently, we have between 150-200 women going through the replacement protocol who’ve changed their mind about aborting their children.

VR:  How and where can a woman get the Abortion Pill Reversal?

Dr. H:  She can visit abortionpillreversal.com, where she will find the resources and information she needs to get help right away.  She can also call 1-877-558-0333 and speak with a nurse who will connect her with the closest provider nationwide.

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
