Standing in the Gap: Why the Big, Beautiful Bill Matters–and Why Our Work Is Far from Over

There’s been a lot of buzz lately about the “Big, Beautiful Bill”—a sweeping piece of legislation that’s sending ripples through the world of women’s healthcare. Under this bill is the Hyde Amendment, officially titled the “Protecting Life and Ending Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act,” which represents one of the most significant pro-life victories in recent history. It aims to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers by cutting off hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding that have historically been funneled into these organizations, despite federal laws against taxpayer-funded abortions.

For years, Planned Parenthood has received over $500 million annually in taxpayer dollars, despite promoting itself as a nonprofit reliant on private donations. Much of this federal funding came in the form of reimbursements through Medicaid and Title X programs. The Big, Beautiful Bill puts a decisive end to that, ensuring that federal dollars will no longer subsidize abortion providers—even indirectly.

This is a major win for the sanctity of life. It’s a message to every American that our government will no longer financially support organizations that prioritize abortion over holistic, life-affirming care.

But make no mistake: Planned Parenthood is not going anywhere.

Planned Parenthood Receives Millions in Private Funding

Despite the loss of federal funding, Planned Parenthood still receives hundreds of millions in private donations from large corporations, celebrities, and individual supporters. Some of their donors include the likes of Mackenzie Scott (ex-wife to Jeff Bezos), who donated $275 million, the Buffett Foundation, and the Ford Foundation. In fact, their most recent annual report shows nearly $700 million in private contributions. They remain one of the most politically connected and well-funded organizations in the nation. Not to mention, the fact that they profit directly from abortion services, with procedures costing anywhere from $500 to $3,000.

So what does this mean for women and children—especially those in under-resourced communities?

It means the need is still great. While a major funding stream has been cut, there is still a gap in compassionate, comprehensive, life-affirming care that must be filled.

And that’s where Save the Storks and our National Partner Program come in.

Filling the Gap with Love, Support, and Practical Help

Our mission has always been about more than stopping abortion. It’s about creating a culture of life—one that surrounds women with the resources, encouragement, and healthcare they need to choose life with confidence and support.

Our National Partner Program is how we do that—on the ground, in real communities, through a growing network of pregnancy clinics, mobile medical clinics, churches, and advocates across the country. Through this program, Save the Storks equips pregnancy health clinics with the tools and support they need to meet women right where they are.

When a woman walks into a Mobile Medical Clinic or (brick and mortar) pregnancy clinic supported by Save the Storks, she isn’t handed a bill or an agenda. She’s offered care. Compassion. Truth. She’s met by trained medical professionals who offer ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, STI testing, counseling, and ongoing support—free of charge.

She’s told: “You are not alone.”

What Happens When We Show Up

While Planned Parenthood is adjusting its PR strategy and calling on big donors to “fill the gap,” we’re already on the ground, meeting real needs with real solutions.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • A Mobile Medical Clinic parked outside a college campus, where a scared 19-year-old sees her baby’s heartbeat for the first time—and chooses life.
  • A young mother receives counseling and material assistance after her partner walked out, and now she’s not just surviving—she’s thriving.
  • A pregnancy clinic expands its hours and services because of a Save the Storks grant, reaching more women than ever before in their community.

This is not theoretical. This is happening—today.

The Real Healthcare Women Deserve

One of the most powerful aspects of the Big, Beautiful Bill is that it reframes the conversation about women’s healthcare. For too long, the abortion industry has claimed to be the primary—or even sole—provider of essential services for women.

But we know that’s not true.

The Save the Storks National Partner Program is proof that life-affirming care is not only possible—it’s revolutionary. Our partners provide prenatal care, maternal healthcare, parenting classes, housing referrals, mental health support, and more. We’re showing women that choosing life doesn’t mean choosing hardship. It means choosing hope.

A Call to Action: Let’s Go The Extra Mile

While the Big, Beautiful Bill marks a significant turning point, it’s not the end of the story. In many ways, it’s just the beginning.

Because as Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry double down on their efforts—spurred on by wealthy donors and media allies—we must rise even higher. We must go even further. We must continue to expand, to equip, to empower, and to ensure that no woman ever feels abortion is her only option.

Your support of Save the Storks makes this possible. Every dollar, every prayer, every repost or share helps us push back against a culture of death and build something better.

A culture of life. A network of hope.

We’re Not Just Filling a Gap

The Big, Beautiful Bill is a bold and necessary step in the fight to protect pre-born life and honor the dignity of women. But legislation alone can’t heal hearts or meet needs. That’s where the Church and nonprofits like Save the Storks step in.

We’re not just filling a gap—we’re building a movement. A movement that believes women deserve more than abortion; that children deserve a chance at life. And that communities are stronger when compassion leads the way.The bill may be big, and it may be beautiful, but what we’re building together is even more so.

Go the extra mile for moms this summer by donating miles to help moms receive the compassionate and life-affirming support they deserve. Every mile equals a dollar––donate today!

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
