Joseph grew up in Royal Oak, MI, a suburb outside of Detroit. After graduating from Oral Roberts University with his Bachelor’s in Business Administration, he followed a call to move to Colorado Springs. While working for a local ministry, he met his amazing, beautiful wife Katelyn Schmidt (not the Storks employee).
A few years into their marriage, a doctor told Katelyn that it was going to be very difficult for her to get pregnant, and that she should start trying soon if she wanted children, because it could be years before she had a successful pregnancy. God intervened miraculously, and weeks after that appointment, Katelyn was pregnant with their daughter River Grace. Two and a half years later, God did a repeat performance, and Katelyn gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Michael Wolfgang. The Schmidt family spends their time hiking, playing music, reading, and above all, laughing.
At Storks, Joseph works as the Affiliate Engagement Director, leading and serving the amazing team responsible for all parts of the Medical Mobile Unit process. The Affiliate Engagement team works closely with pregnancy resource centers, helping them from the moment they become affiliates, through the building, designing, and fundraising processes, all the way through delivery and beyond.
Since his team is typically the first one in the office, Joseph also takes it upon himself to make that all-important first pot of coffee in the morning. Through this, he fuels the movement.
When asked if he would encourage others to work in the pro-life movement, he said he would first ask them “to consider the why of their career,” because “more important than what you do, is why you do it, and who you do it with.”
