U.S. Abortion Statistics
- One in four women will have an abortion by age 45
- In 2017, 18 percent of pregnancies (excluding miscarriages) ended in abortion
- Approximately 862,320 abortions were performed in 2017, down 7 percent from 926,190 in 2014
- The abortion rate in 2017 was 13.5 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44, down 8 percent from 14.6 per 1,000 in 2014
- There are more than 2,300 abortions each day in the United States (The CDC reported 619,591 legal abortions in 2018. We get the daily estimate of abortions by dividing this number by 260 business days in a year which gives us an estimated average)

Pressure to Abort
- 64 percent of women reported feeling pressured to abort
- 79 percent weren’t told about available resources if they chose life
- 84 percent weren’t adequately counseled before an abortion
- 54 percent were unsure of their decision
- 67 percent received no counseling beforehand
- 65 percent of women suffer trauma symptoms after abortion
- Most abortion clinics fail to screen for coercion
- Pressure to abort can escalate to violence

Pregnancy Resource Centers
- PRCs served nearly two million clients in 2017
- They saved their communities an estimated $161 million
- More than seven in 10 locations offered free ultrasounds (up 24 percent since 2010)
- 400,100 hours of free services were contributed by credentialed nurse sonographers and registered diagnostic medical sonographers in 2017
- Centers carried out 679,600 free pregnancy tests in 2017
- 295,900 moms and dads attended parenting courses
