3 Ways the Church Can Respond To Roe

CHURCH – this is your time to shine!

The issue of abortion is not going to go away if Roe v. Wade is overturned.  There will still be a great need for you to stand for life by caring for women in unplanned pregnancies.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:8-9

What’s happening in your state?

Be aware that if you are in a state that restricts abortion, people in your own community may be traveling elsewhere to get an abortion. In states that allow surgical abortion, there are women coming toward you and you can offer real hope.

Planned Parenthood reported an 800% increase in their centers in bordering states following the Texas abortion restriction.

What can your church do?

LEARN

Equip yourself and your church to fully understand how the pro-life movement is holistically caring for women.

Save the Stork’s book Unplanned Grace tells true stories of how women were empowered to overcome economic, relational pressures and health concerns through the support of pro-life agencies.

The Matter of Life documentary provides a historical and thorough approach to the abortion issue in America and how we can best care for women.

Life Training Institute provides in person and virtual apologetic training on the value of all life.

SPEAK

Be courageous and compassionate in advocating for the vulnerable. Remember that both women and men fall into that category. Keep in mind 4 in 10 abortions take place with women who are regularly attending church.

Let your community know that your church is a safe place for women in an unexpected pregnancy. A place where she will be met, not with shame and judgement, but with open arms and loving support.

ACT

Be intentional about reaching out to the women in your community who are in an unexpected pregnancy. Help equip others to have compassionate conversations, seeing every human life as precious.

Find your local pregnancy center HERE and invite them to talk to your church about the resources they provide to your community.

Start an abortion recovery group in your church. Acknowledging the pain of an abortion can free people to finally find healing.

Use some of the free resources at Save the Storks to start a group in your church to become equipped with a compassionate pro-life ethic.

No matter what your local laws, you can:

Be filled with compassion (not judgment) for these women who are trying to navigate this fearful and difficult moment in their lives.

Support your local pregnancy center. Their work is by no means going to get easier but it more critical than ever.

Talk about how your church cares for women and men no matter what their stories are.

This is an incredible opportunity for the church to step up and be known for our compassion for those facing unplanned pregnancies

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
