A Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) is a supportive, nonjudgmental organization that offers women no-cost services like counseling, medical care, and resources. Since their inception, plenty of myths have circulated about Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) or life-affirming women’s health clinics. Unsurprisingly, the pro-choice movement spreads much of this discord to discredit the vital services provided by life-affirming clinics. Here are five PRC myths and the truth about how they empower women.
5 Myths about PRCs
- PRCs only care about the baby.
- PRCs are fake clinics.
- PRCs deceive women seeking pregnancy care.
- PRCs use scare tactics, visuals, and unsolicited ultrasound exams to intimidate and shame women seeking safe and legal abortion.
- PRCs provide outdated or inaccurate medical information.
Myth #1 – PRCs only care about the baby.
The pro-life movement dedicates itself to prioritizing and empowering mothers in their choices. Abortion doesn’t just end the life of the unborn; it can also leave lasting emotional and physical scars on the mother. When PRCs give women the support they need to choose life, it’s not just about saving the baby; it’s also about saving the woman from a lifetime of pain, regret, and possible health complications that can result from abortion.

That’s why pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) provide compassionate care, offering counseling and support to women who have experienced abortion. If PRCs only cared about the baby, why would they continue to support women afterward? The truth is that PRCs deeply care about the women they serve. Many stay in contact with them, offering care and checking in regardless of the choice. Their priority is always the woman’s well-being — physically, mentally, and emotionally. No matter what, they are there for her.
Myth #2 – PRCs are fake clinics
The abortion movement would like you to believe that a PRC is full of people dressed up in lab coats with no real medical experience, giving health evaluations to women. This is untrue.
Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) are not fake clinics. Each PRC we partner with is staffed by licensed physicians and nurses, including a medical director who oversees all medical services. We take pride in the service that our partners provide.

Our National Medical Director, Dr. Karysse Hutson, assembled a Medical Advisory Board of 12 medical professionals nationwide. This board reinforces vigorous policies and procedures, ensuring that our partners deliver excellence in patient care. We are the first organization to provide grants to help our clinics achieve the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) standard. AAAHC is a third-party organization that ensures clinics meet the highest medical standards.
The PRCs we partner with uphold the highest standards of medical care because that’s what every woman deserves.
Myth #3 – PRCs deceive women seeking pregnancy care.
This couldn’t be further from the truth. PRC websites clearly state that they do not provide or refer for abortions; they’re transparent about their services. PRCs commit to giving women honest information so they can make informed decisions about their futures.
On the other hand, abortion clinics often fail to provide full disclosure about what an abortion procedure or the abortion pill entails. This leaves many women unaware of the potential risks and long-term effects. True empowerment comes from having all the facts, and PRCs are dedicated to ensuring women have precisely that.
Myth #4 – PRCs use scare tactics to shame women into choosing life.
PRCs commit to compassion, not coercion. Their policies and procedures are rooted in empathy and respect, ensuring women feel safe and supported when seeking care. PRCs prioritize creating an environment of trust, understanding that shame and fear have no place in empowering women to make healthy choices.
Myth #5 – PRCs provide women with misinformation or outdated medical information.
Planned Parenthood has a page on its website dedicated to warning women about the so-called dangers of Pregnancy Resource Centers. In it, they claim that PRCs “won’t give you honest facts about sexual health and your pregnancy options — their goal is to spread misinformation and propaganda.”
The truth is that PRCs provide women with completely accurate medical information on all their options, including abortion. They thoroughly explain every aspect of the abortion procedure. This standard protocol should be followed by anyone undergoing a medical procedure, especially one that could pose risks to their health.

This process is called informed consent, which many abortion providers, particularly those prescribing abortion pills via telehealth, fail to offer women.
PRCs Empower Women
PRCs provide vital support and services to women in need, including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STI testing, parenting and prenatal education programs, after-abortion support, and material resources. We partner with 120 Pregnancy Resource Centers across the nation.
Although Planned Parenthood and the abortion movement continue pushing misinformation about the life-affirming movement and Pregnancy Resource Clinics, we will not be dismayed. We’ll continue serving women with the excellence, empathy, and respect they deserve.
It’s true, it takes a village!
They say it takes a village to raise a child. By joining our Life Society as a monthly giver, you can be part of that village, providing women with the support they need all year.
